The Gorlin Syndrome Alliance (GSA) is committed to advancing research that improves the lives of individuals and families affected by Gorlin syndrome while accelerating progress toward prevention, better treatments, and ultimately, a cure. Guided by the GSA Research Roadmap, our funding program supports innovative research across the continuum of discovery—from early-stage pilot projects to larger translational studies with the potential to directly impact patient care.
GSA currently offers two annual funding cycles, each featuring competitive funding opportunities that support different stages and areas of Gorlin syndrome research. As our research program grows, additional grant mechanisms and strategic partnerships will be added to meet the evolving needs of the research community.
FUNDING OPPORTUNITIES:
Discovery Grant
Award: Up to $30,000
Opens: Winter
Best for: Early-stage, investigator-initiated research, pilot studies, & proof-of-concept projects that generate new knowledge & establish a foundation for future discoveries.
Best for: Milestone-driven translational research that advances prevention, disease modification, improved treatments, clinical trial readiness, and cure-directed therapies.
Best for: Research addressing pediatric basal cell carcinoma in Gorlin syndrome, including prevention, diagnosis, surveillance, treatment, and quality of life.
Every GSA-funded project contributes to a growing body of research that advances our understanding of Gorlin syndrome and helps build the foundation for better treatments and, ultimately, a cure. As additional resources become available, the GSA plans to expand its funding portfolio with new grant mechanisms, fellowships, and collaborative funding opportunities that further advance Gorlin syndrome research.

Intellectual Property & Commercialization Policy
GSA believes that when discoveries arising from GSA-supported research generate commercial success, a small portion of that success should help fund the next generation of Gorlin syndrome research. Our Research Reinvestment and Commercialization Policy establishes a simple framework through which recipient institutions contribute a modest percentage of commercialization income back to GSA for reinvestment in future Gorlin syndrome research, while retaining ownership and control of their intellectual property.

Publications & Acknowledgment
Award recipients are expected to acknowledge support from the Gorlin Syndrome Alliance in publications, presentations, and other scholarly works arising from funded research and to provide GSA with copies or citations of resulting publications.
Data Sharing
GSA encourages responsible sharing of research findings and data consistent with institutional policies, ethical standards, participant privacy, and applicable regulations. Award-specific data sharing expectations may be outlined within individual funding opportunities.
